Since April of 1996, Barrier Free
Texas has performed the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation –
Architectural Barriers Act plan
reviews and inspections per the Texas
Accessibility Standards (TAS)
for architects, interior designers, landscape
architects, design-builders, engineers, building owners and developers as required by the Texas
Government Code, Chapter 469.
Robert
Ferkin, president and founder of
Barrier Free Texas, began his Texas building accessibility career at
the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation – Code Review & Inspections – Architectural Barriers in
Austin as an Accessibility Specialist in 1995. While
working at the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation he performed the TAS plan reviews, served on
Technical/Policy Committees and was an
Information Specialist.
Barrier Free Texas is committed to the
